Short Discription Of Calli
I am reading Weight Of Silence and it is about this girl that can't talk. her father is a alcoholic and is drunk all the time. And because she can't talk she pee's in her pants at school because she does not ask the teacher to go to the bathroom, or she does not go to the bathroom when all the other kids go to the bathroom.

ReplyDeleteI haven't read that book in quite a while but I remmeber feeling terrible for Cali. Can you imagine a teacher that mean? Can you imagine the kind of life that she (Cali) sees?
Do you have any theories on why she stopped speaking so suddenly?
This book seems very interesting and a little scary, but the information you've posted has gotten me hooked. Also I'm very curious to see how things end up! keep up the posting :)

ReplyDeleteJust from the comments I've read, I feel a great deal of compassion for Cali. She must have had some pretty terrible things happen to her for her to be this traumatized. It saddens me to think the children are traumatized every day by the people who are supposed to love them and make them feel safe. Enjoy the rest of the book.
